Malaita Program

In Malaita, we organized a workshop focused on promoting clean elections, targeted at the youth from Mamade Village in Ward 29, Central Kwara’ae, within Malaita Province. Additionally, we conducted a panel discussion on the same theme in Auki, engaging an audience comprised of members from the Ambu and Kwaibala youth communities.

 

Workshop In Mamade Village

The workshop held in Mamade Village, Ward 29, Central Kwara’ae on February 15, 2024, focused on the theme of clean elections. Its content encompassed various topics including fact-checking information related to elections, governance principles, leadership qualities, and the responsibilities associated with voting.

During the workshop, David Wairi, a Senior Youth Leader from Mamade Village, shared his concerns regarding misinformation during the electoral period. He emphasized how narratives and information could be distorted through various channels. Additionally, David underscored the importance of seeking leaders with genuine leadership qualities. He expressed gratitude towards the Youth For Change Solomon Islands (YFCSI) Team for their efforts in reaching out to and educating the youth members. David highlighted that such voter empowerment initiatives would enable young individuals to make informed choices and influence their networks to vote wisely during elections.

Youth Tok Stori

The Youth Talk Story event took place on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Youth Hub in Auki, with attendees from the Kwaibala and Ambu youth communities. The panel featured Rose Savakana and Nelson Kay, with Lesley Sanga serving as the moderator.

During the event, the panelists predominantly discussed the topic of clean elections and explored ways in which young people could actively contribute to and promote the integrity of electoral processes.
